Can't boot x64 DVD
You should post x64 questions to an x64 newsgroup. Yes, but isn't this a general question not related to the number of bits the OS is built for? Did you set your BIOS to boot from the array? I set the MB BIOS to first boot from the HDD, it can't see if it's an arry or not. Regards Rolf "Rolf Aslaksen"

Can't boot Vista Help!!!!
But the other problem is whether there is a driver in Win x64 to support the card. Neither Maxtor nor Promise have a 64-bit driver listed on their sites. That doesn't mean there isn't one, but you may need to contact Promise directly to check that. "Rick" wrote: I am just guessing, but on a MB with both IDE and

Ask. Dual booting with Vista x86 and Vista x64 is fine since you have a separate product key for x64. You will need to boot the computer with the x64 dvd since you cannot run the x64 If you can't do the extra ram don't worry too much about it, but anything less than 2GB simply is not enough for Ultimate x64.

How to achieve actual use of my full 4 GB RAM,
Have you installed the video adapter's manufacturer's WinXPx64-specific device drivers? If he cannot boot to either Normal, VGA, or even Safe Mode, then how do you propose he install the most current drivers? I have never been able out how to do something like that if you can't boot up the system.

Upgrading to 64-bit Vista
And then there is the boot sector, which is not a file at all; you can't use "normal" tools to copy it, delete it or even read it. Since I phased out Win98 several years ago, I ran only multiple installations of WinXP Pro until I added WinXP x64, which I never did get comfy with, mostly because ATI never

OK, so you installed XP 32 bit after the XP x64, correct? And now you can't see the XP x64, of course. Blogged in November of 2005... Can't boot from SATA raid array.
It it can't USE or SEE the 4GB unless the application is compiled accordingly. But the memory address space is allocated regardless. This is _different_ from 32-bit Windows, where the application only GETS 2GB unless you boot with the /3GB switch. That can very easily be misunderstood. I wouldn't use the word GET,

Windows 64bit OS and ActiveX - can't boot up
If you are seeing issues with not having enough of that type of memory you should consider a x64 bit OS and SQL Server so it can use all the available memory for what ever it needs to. Hopefully you do not have the /3GB switch still set in the Boot.ini. If you do take it out. Chances are you are experiencing issues

The
site has driver for Windows 98/Me/NT4/2000/XP/2003, but none for x64. That's probably where your blue screen is coming from - no hardware driver. I think you may need to look for a different IDE card. Hagop wrote: I am unable to boot to Windows XP 64 with drives connected to my Maxtor Ultra ATA 133 card.

Help
The PK will work for either version, but you can't install x64 with that PK until you've uninstalled x86 - or vice versa. Both installations will use the one System Partition (usually the first partition on your first HD), but each will install into a separate volume, which will become the Boot Volume for that

While trying to set up my computer with a multi-boot i ran in to a few problems and had a few re-installations to get it to work. since Vista x64 (and my motherboard) supports more RAM ,will a high RAM value (8 Gig) impact XP Pro, or will it just ignore (black hole) what it can't use. Thnaks.
